Everyone’s on Pinterest these days and it is essential to garner as much exposure and attention from pins as possible in order to increase traffic to your site and increase sales.
Since Pinterest is based largely on user-generated or shared images, it is important that your pins go viral once you share them. Many people have tried valiantly to share and generate interest from pins, only to find that these pins hardly gain any likes, followers, or gets re-pinned.
The key to creating viral pins is not just from having loads of pins or getting more followers to your pins. An important aspect of creating viral pins is ensuring that your pins reach your target audience.

1. Select Awesome Images
Since Pinterest relies on esthetics and appeal, the images you choose are critical to creating viral pins. Several important points to remember when selecting a great picture for your pin includes choosing eye-catching images that contain bright colors.
Another feature of great images is having natural light. Natural light not only brings out the best in almost any picture, but also allows the unique traits and features of any picture to stand out.
You should also experiment with images from different angles. For example, a piece of cake does not always need to be shot from a wide angle to show the top design. Cutting the pieces open and including utensils will make the cake look more appealing. Likewise, a necklace might depict a much better outlook from a different angle.
Remember to take as many pictures as possible so you have a wide selection of images to choose from. This pin shows another unique way of showcasing a great product is to try taking the photograph vertically instead of horizontally. This works especially well as your image will stand out on the Pinterest board and will take up more vertical space than other regular pictures.
Taller product images not only hold the majority of screen space and can block out competing products, these tall images also give your potential customer a better idea of what you are selling since they are better able to view the product.
Pinterest images in pins are restricted mostly in width rather than height. Take full advantage of this and try lengthening your product images.
3. “Rich” pins go viral faster
If you own an Amazon, ebay, Etsy or similar shop or even a storefront website such as Shopify or Magento, then you need to be using “Rich Pins”. When you pin an item directly from your Amazon listing the Pin will have the items price, a site badge, and a link straight back to your listing. If you update the listing price it will also update the price on your Pin.
Rich Pins help your followers find your products/photos more easily. If you put your item on sale all the people who have re-pinned it will be able to see that the listing is on sale too. This can be very powerful for driving more orders with sales.
